This mature garden was originally built with a series of walls made from pressure treated wood to deal with the 10 feet of elevation change. It was practical but not very aesthetically pleasing. We softened the look of the back yard by replacing the wood walls by using over 200 tons of boulders to create a new natural slope with waterfalls, stream and pond. The rocks where used to create level planting pockets for dwarf conifers, deciduous shrubs and perennials for seasonal color. This garden can now be enjoyed from inside the house (as it is at eye level when looking out) or from the new back yard patio.
